Large Hakeme Bowl by Haga Ryuichi
This large bowl has a wild character and shows natural rawness reflecting the power of fire directly.
A perfect center piece on the table.
The colour is reddish brown or light chestnut. White slip applied on this piece is heavily crackled and made the surface coarse when touched. Another interesting feature with this piece is that these fine crackle lines run in parallel along the dynamic Hakeme brush stroke.
Made in Mashiko, Japan.
One of a kind studio piece made by Haga Ryuichi.
Fired at high temperature in the artist's Anagama kiln.
Dimension:
Diameter 27.2 x Height 6.5 cm / 10.9 x 2.6 inches
Unique piece.
About Maker
Haga Ryuichi is a self-taught potter who lives in the ceramics town of Mashiko in Japan. Digging local soil and minerals for the clay bodies and glazes of his pieces, firing in a self-built kiln, each process needs time and labour yet is essential for him. He sees this whole journey itself as part of the making of his art of fired earth.
