Decorative Bowl - Rabbit and the Moon by Imai Ritsuko
Decorative bowl with rabbit motif exclusively crafted for two persimmons.
This bowl depicts a rabbit running in the field under the full moon.
Imai Ritsuko's graphics draws inspiration from many things, including relics of early civilizations of the Ancient Near East. Both sgraffito technique and hand glazing are applied on these bowls. Sgraffito is made by scratch-drawing on the wet clay between throwing and firing.
This item, Rabbit and the Moon, is slightly smaller than other rabbit bowls on the listings.
Ready to hang on the wall. As the close-up image shows, two small halls are made on the foot and a brass wire ring is attached.

Imai Ritsuko is a potter who lives near the famous ceramics town of Mashiko in Japan, where she throws both functional and decorative pieces. Read more...
With a background in art, Ritsuko has always been drawn to the creative world. She started exploring figurative pottery art for her university course in Japan. Further developed her ceramic journey was a year spent at the University of Wolverhampton (UK) , where she had a chance to connect with British pottery and acquired a broader sense of ceramic art outside of the Japanese framework. Ritsuko moved on to finish another ceramics course at the Industrial Technology Center in Mashiko. She has lived there ever since, built her kiln and family home.
Among the various home pieces that Ritsuko creates, the wheel thrown "person" pieces most represent her figurative style, and these are hugely popular.
two persimmons commissioned Ritsuko to create her new pieces exclusively to us which we are excited to share on this website.
