The Baba Watermill was founded in 1918 by the village members jointly, and now is owned and run by the Babas, husband and wife duo. Their community in Yame, southern Japan, has been through the rise and fall of milling business in 100 years, and still the duo holds a strong passion to carry on the area's legacy of forestry-based manufacturing with natural resources and sustainable energy. The mill constantly receives visitors who are keen to learn from this successful model of green local economy.
