Lidded Cup & Saucer by Ohara Koichi
Hand thrown/build ceramic tea cup with lid and saucer. Made in Tokoname, Japan.
Functional line of the highly acclaimed studio potter Ohara Koichi.
These sets are called Gaiwan, and generally used for brewing Chiniese tea.
Put some loose tea leaves in the cup, let them brew, and simply drink from it with the lid half open. Hold the cup with one hand and the lid with the other, to keep holding tea leaves in it. You can also use this set as teapot and serve tea into smaller cups.

Ohara Koichi is a highly acclaimed studio potter based in Tokoname, Japan. Ohara draws his inspiration from the raw textures in the nature. He mixes various local soils and materials to make his clay, glaze and slip, which often contain grit. Ohara studied physics at Meisei University before becoming a ceramic artist.
